Venue: Port Eliot Estate, St Germans, Cornwall
In July 2011, PF Events were contracted to supply all the audio, staging, lighting and video along with complete technical management for Port Eliot Festival. The Festival was held at the Port Eliot Estate in St Germans, Cornwall, and consisted of a widely diverse lineup including music, cabaret, film, poetry, cooking and other artistic performances spanning 11 stages.
Big Top
PF Events installed a six-stack, point source Noise Control Audio NFA system which was perfectly suited to the diversity of the acts performing on this stage. A full stage monitor setup was also supplied along with a number of vocal and instrument microphones, all of which was controlled at front of house by a Soundcraft MH2 Mixing Desk. Some acts requested video to be shown during their performance, so PF Events supplied a 4500 lumens Sharp Projector and 8ft x 6ft screen. A 32ft x 20ft stage was also installed.
Caught By The River
In this other main stage, PF Events installed a four-stack, point source Noise Control Audio NFA system with infills. Like at the Big Top, this stage featured a mixture of music and spoken word, making the system which was supplied, perfect. A full stage monitor setup was also supplied along with a number of vocal and instrument microphones, all of which was controlled at front of house by a Allen & Heath iLive-T80 Digital Mixing Desk. PF Events also supplied two 50" plasma screens with stands to be used to show visuals by some of the DJs. A 24ft x 16ft stage was also installed.
Bowling Green
This stage featured mainly spoken word acts, although did feature some music acts as well, therefore a compact Noise Control Audio system was installed with infills. Vocal and instrument mics were supplied, along with a full DJ setup and two 50" plasma screens on stands with an Analog Way video switcher. A 16ft x 12ft stage was also installed.
Other Stages
PF Events also supplied audio, video, lighting, staging and technical management to a number of other smaller stages around the sight including the Cabaret stage, Boogie in the Round, Walled Garden, Flower Show, Idler, Round Room and Paradiso Picollo.
I worked with Positive Fokus for the first time on The Port Eliot Festival this year and was really impressed with their attitude from start to finish. They put together a fantastic technical plan with a detailed list of kit and a budget. They attended plenty of prep meetings that meant we all felt comfortable when the build began. On site, they had a fantastic manager supported by an efficient and friendly crew. They were able to respond to last minute changes which is always essential. All in all I would recommend them as a leading technical production company with great kit backed up by a professional team.
